How to develop personal development skills - It is quite undeniable that the word contentment exists in any dictionaries. However, it does not exist in real life. This may sound to be an absurd notion but this is really true. This is due to the fact that as a human being, you should continuously strive to be a better person for your own sake and to be successful in life. As a matter of fact, this is the very essence of the personal development skills that is within your system. Thus, you have to learn on how you can improve and develop personal development skills for you to become a better person in time.Improving your self or striving to be a better person is not that bad. It is just that you want to be a better you. You want to be better in your field of career. You want to be a better individual. You want to be a better citizen of your nation. You just want to learn more and break away from your normal self. Furthermore, striving to be better and developing your skills can help you figure out if who you really are which can then lead you to the peak of success. Hence, it is just safe to say that aiming to be a better person can do you no harm.Improving your personality skills or your whole self, per se, entails a step-by-step process, which you should be aware of. Here is the process on how to improve and develop personal development skills:• Set your goals. This is the very first thing, which you should do in improving yourself. You have to determine if what you want in life and what you want to attain in the long run. This is essential in order for you to find out if what
you need do to be a better person.• Make your development plan. Once you have determined your goals in life, the next step is for you to make your own personal development plan. The plan will serve as your guide in achieving your goals.• Put your plan into action. Putting your personal development plan into action is the most difficult step in improving yourself. Nevertheless, you can make it somehow easier and simpler by just starting with small steps one at a time. After all, it is better to start with small steps slowly but surely rather than start with bigger insignificant steps forward.• Be responsible. You have to be responsible in everything and anything that you do. Accept all your shortcomings wholeheartedly and promise yourself to make everything correctly the next time around. Moreover, you also have to be open-minded when it comes to the results of your pursuit in becoming a better and successful person. In doing so, you can easily accept any possible failures and simply move forward.• Make sure to improve yourself daily. Personal development skills are already within you. You just need to improve those skills in order to be a better person, attain happiness, and be successful at the end of the day. In fact, it is preferable for you to improve your personal development skills daily to have fruitful results. You should be able to find some Personal Reflection Affirmations from some self improvement websites.Indeed, improving yourself is not an instant process but rather a gradual one. Hence, you really have to be aware of how you can slowly improve, as well as develop personal development skills in order to be a better individual and be successful in time.

Since the beginning of time we have had some type of writing in our midst. At first we may not have paid attention to such a gesture, it may have seemed primitive or too focused, during busy times. However, things do change and come full circle.

It’s imperative that we write well and with wisdom, for it unfolds freedom of the senses daily, it refreshes our lives with a special touch from the God of the universe, the Creator of mankind alike.

We search daily for happiness and fulfillment in our lives; we find that in writing and reading poetry. When we keep a journal or daily thought pattern in our heads we feel relieved and refreshed. When we release it we feel empowered with strength and fullness of joy in life.

It’s not too much for us to say that wisdom plays an important part in our lives as we write. Wisdom is awakened before us and is already in place before we arrive. It sits perched upon its pedestal and waits for our desire to find it; we find it in God’s Word also. Wisdom is free for the asking, God giveth it freely to the requester.

In order to reach a plateau in life of writing poetry we must feel poetry, we must get glad about its due happiness; it is a rewarding thing to do. It builds more than it tear down, it drives forward more than it backs off, riches unknown and untold find a place in poetry. A great step forward in time marking a remnant of peace.

In the hands of friendly people poetry is written to build up, to free a mind that is entangled in self-pity, or simply spread a quote or wisdom, as wisdom takes its course, happiness follows it. In order to write with wisdom in poetry you must have a need to reach goals in life; you must reach forward and upward.

If a poet become a novelist then they are all the better for it, for we know that wisdom relates to healing for healing relates to goodness and it fits the scene in wellness of mind, heart, body and soul of the one involved. You will write poetry when you are truly a poet, you will write a novel with freedom of style; you become a part of that book. So wisdom tells the author where the fine line is drawn and when it dips to its highest points or dives low into the realms of thought.

You must be wise to be a poet, they say the pay is not good, but it is fulfilling. As for the novelist, write them a check and send them on their way, to the next poetry verse, for one day it will be needed and wisdom has already prepared its morsel. Just a morsel of poetry from the hand of a great poet will suffice a person’s taste for a slight bit of enthusiasm. Wisdom teaches her student how to write and to read poetry. Poetry is from the hands of God, so He speaks to our hearts through a stroke of wisdom from the pen.

Whether we hear it or not, it will tell, for our days change not and our nights are all solemnly fixed upon near positives. However, poetry with its stroke of wisdom sets us forward in time, reaching us early morning or noonday, midnight or break of dawn, poetry pours freedom upon our souls! Be it best to write with wisdom and take a step forward in the world of poetry as never before.

Wisdom teaches us truths that would be otherwise held back, yet it burst forth as wise as the pen in the hand that writes with wisdom. Take a step forward and force positives upon your mind for it is richness in the land of poetry! Start your day with poetry, and wisdom will be at your door to greet you every day. Step into your blessings, read more talk less and hear the wisdom that flows from your heart, mind and soul, go forward, taking a step only one at a time, thereby you may come upon wisdom early.

You need not chase after wisdom for it is free, did you ask and God not give it to you, or did you leave it intentionally behind? It is surely there when you ask for it; poetry purifies thoughts and senses that need its fruitful pleasant scent. As a rose is poetry is, as a simply word is, wisdom is, only take heed to its beckoning and live happily in the wisdom thereof through the flowing verses of poetry. Write well and write often for its reward is forthcoming, for wisdom rewards its takers.

Wisdom or folly? You Choose

Who is she?

"She is as awesome as a goddess, as playful as a small child, as comfortable as a mother's arms, as challenging as a prophet, as satisfying as a table laden with food, as mysterious as a lover hidden among the lilies."

She, of course, is Wisdom.

Isaiah 55 (Invitation to the Spiritually Thirsty) speaks the same message to that of Proverbs 1-9, though it is the LORD who speaks. This proves the synonymity of the LORD and Wisdom. Until we approach both simultaneously we cannot think like God, "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the LORD." (Isaiah 55:8 TNIV)

The final chapter of Proverbs' introduction gives opposing parties the chance to faceoff.

Wisdom stands in the blue corner and her table is adorned with game and scented wine; her servant-girls have personally issued the virtuous invitation: "You who are simple, turn in here... lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the way of insight." (Proverbs 9:4a, 6 NRSV)

Standing in the red corner is Ms Folly. Her table is bare and looks simple: bread and water. But her invitation is deceptive. She says, "Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant." (Proverbs 9:17 NRSV) Those going Folly's way will end up dining with the dead.

Wisdom knows most will reject her offer, even some so-called godly people. She has seen so many go to their dire ruin for rejecting her attractive and ever-sensible offer.

The last chapter of the introduction to Proverbs has the motif of 'the last chance--make your choice' about it.
And this is how life works. At different junctures throughout we're asked to consider and then decide regarding wisdom. Time and again we'll make the wrong decision--and we pay for it; but God, in his eternally long-enduring grace continues to dish up the same offer. Only when we're physically dead will it be too late.

The point is when will we finally choose to accept it?

Nothing Compares to You, Wisdom (Proverbs 8)

What's the most valuable thing to you? What is it that keeps you awake at night, worried? What determines your priorities? I bet the answer to these questions is not 'seeking wisdom.' Yet it's what Proverbs says is the most important task of life; the gaining of real biblically spiritual, moral wisdom.

Chapter 8 of Proverbs features the second of Lady Wisdom's three main speeches in Proverbs 1-9; the last one is in chapter 9. She cries out for all to listen to her, not just the simple, the mocker, the fool; although there is--in reality--a simpleton, mocker and fool within all of us, situationally at least.

There are four parts to Wisdom's Proverbs 8 speech:

1. An introductory section (verses 4-11)

Nothing compares to Wisdom. In 1990, Sinead O'Connor had a major hit with the song Nothing Compares to You. The lyric, "I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard, but I'm willing to give it another try," fits with our yearning for wisdom. It's a rocky journey.

Wisdom, in truth, is entirely dependable and faithful. She will never not return more than we invest. It may be a rocky journey, the life toward wisdom, but we'll reap a harvest of good if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

2. An informative section on the character of Wisdom (verses 12-21)

How do we know if we truly want Wisdom if we don't ever get to know her and what she's about? She, like God, loves certain things and hates other things. For instance, she says, "I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me." (Verse 17 Amplified)

We discover early on that those who have their priorities set in the right order seek Wisdom first and foremost. It is the process of investing in our own blessing; a blessing that propagates onto others--"streams of living water will flow from within" that person out into their world and onto those around them (John 7:38). These will begin to live from the eternal context.

3. An autobiographical history lesson on the origins of Wisdom (verses 22-31)

It is in this section we learn where Wisdom is from. She's from God, from the very origin of his being. If God is love (and he most certainly is i.e. 1 John 4:8) and Spirit (John 4:24), he must also be truth, and wisdom. The character of Wisdom and God are inseparable. Wisdom has been from everlasting. The creation of the world is based in Wisdom.

4. Wisdom concludes with her authoritative, stern warning to 'embrace her ways.' (Verses 32-36)

"Those who embrace these my ways are most blessed. Mark a life of discipline and live wisely; don't squander your precious life." We must be awake and alert to Wisdom each morning and throughout... when we find her we "find life, real life, to say nothing of God's good pleasure." (quotes from The Message.)

But, those who reject Wisdom (God) injure themselves and flirt with death.

Home Education Insights - Wisdom Booklet 32 - How Does God Silence His Detractors?

A lot of people have heard of the expression "Hallowed be Thy name", and may have wondered what God does to silence his detractors who are opposed to Him and therefore clearly not "hallowing" his name. This article will explore the important question of what God uses to battle his enemies.

The thoughts set out in this article review another aspect of my research in wisdom from the Bible and is part of our home education program. We'll start with Psalm 8. We'll ask the question, "Whom will God use to silence those who damage His name?"

Psalm 8 verse 2 states "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger." Its true that coming into close contact with young children changes a person's perspectives on life. However it may appear to some that there is no logical reason for God to claim that babes and sucklings would help defend his reputation against His enemies, his avengers and detractors.

When I think about how young children change a person's perspective on life I think of a time when I was having lunch with two business men. They were both in their late 50s or early 60s and they were both very successful business men. One turned to the other and with a big grin that was caused by looking at his grand baby and he said, "Having grand children really changes things doesn't it?

Perhaps God can use family situations like this to change a hard heart into one that thanks God for creating grand children too? That would be an example of hallowing God's name.

Another aspect of how God uses babes and sucklings to battle his detractors could be seen in the fact that Jesus Christ came into the world as a baby. That is all ancient history, and one could be excused for saying that this remarkable fact is not going to help God to keep his name hallowed today.

In my opinion an example of how children affect people's perspective is seen in this following incident cited in our history resource about Jonathan Goforth.

Jonathan Goforth had been treated badly by the locals in China and was fleeing from persecution, he approached a village for some refuge. The village people looked at him as a foreigner and refused to accept him and those traveling with him. They were not about to show mercy to one representing God' name.

At the time of the Boxer Rebellion Christians were thought to drink the blood of children, and the locals were quite ignorant of the facts. But when the local village men saw how badly the missionaries had been treated, and that Mrs Goforth and children were with him they allowed them to have shelter. God's name and his followers were respected and held in higher esteem, partly because they had children with them.

Often times I have been commended for the behaviour of my children in public. I believe that many people have a dim view of a Christian family until they meet one with children who can behave in public.

Parents cannot enjoy children that are well behaved in public unless they demonstrate God's love to the children at home by training them in what is acceptable behaviour. One way of doing this is by spending time with them and acting out appropriate behaviour for certain situations. This can done during home education times with father and mother as well.

The Bible clearly shows us that God is three persons, the head person is God the Father. Therefore there is a parallel relationship between God the Father and his children who are all Christians, and the earthly father and his children. If we have children that respect authority and their father or grandfathers one can see that they are providing a model of respect for God the Father.

This parallel relationship also provides weight to God's claim that he uses children to "hallow" his name, that the enemies and detractors may have no reason to laugh at God.

This last point is seen nowhere clearer than where a person who is professing to be a Christian, or a Christian leader has children that are clearly not demonstrating respect for their parents or those in authority. That is a bad advertisement for God, and gives occasion for his enemies to laugh at Him.

Laughing at God is opposite to hallowing His name.

Further Benefits of Moral Wisdom

The NIV title of Proverbs 3 is a little unimaginative, but it proves the point. The moral, spiritual and practical paybacks of securing wisdom are endless. It is simply the best way. And we don't look far for reason. Most of these chapter 3 verses state reason enough.

The continued subject of the father's speech is, of course, the son--the object is his upbringing. These proverbs, chapters 1-9, are really about the parental duty of a sound moral upbringing to the biblical standard. (Much of which seems altogether too difficult for us with our own children in this age--but is that simply an excuse?)

When we read the imperative language we get insight that compels us; no, we don't have a choice if we love our children and we also abide in truth. The wise, godly parent will therefore hold fast to Proverbs.

Well known almost more than any other couplet of verses, and very much underpinning, is the passage:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths" -Proverbs 3:5-6 (NRSV).

An entire life could be rightly based on those two verses alone, though in reality we need to know more about God to know how to trust him and follow him. But faith is a relatively simple concept.

But, this chapter introduces other important theological concepts, like discipline.

If only we were able to hear and heed the following consistently in our lives:

"My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in" -Proverbs 3:11-12 (NIV).

The LORD's discipline can be any setback in life as God allows all things that happen to happen. Our pain is not the point--it's merely a signal that something is wrong; our disciplined responses are the point. Pain is good in this way. It's an activator. We have the opportunity to respond the right way.

The following three verses place importance on the son gaining understanding, presumably as a result of the LORD's discipline--for that is how understanding is truly gained--in the midst of battle. Understanding is more precious than anything, a truly eternal possession.

And these verses simply lead to the crowning verse in the Jewel of Proverbs 1-9, in my view.

"Long life is in [Wisdom's] right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor" -Proverbs 3:16 (NIV).

For these three reasons we're supremely blessed. A long life is a fulfilled life, content with its lot, however it has turned out. Riches are spiritual riches primarily, but almost certainly (though not always) meaningful (i.e. spiritually meaningful) material riches of tangible variety are in abundance also. Honour comes in the form of a right and just reputation of a person of integrity--no cheap possession.

Wisdom is the 'tree of life' to all those who embrace her (3:18), casting the net back to Genesis and forward to Revelation. The tree of life analogy is intrinsically a biblical metaphor; reward for right relationship with God.

The rest of the chapter consists the origins of Wisdom, which came before Creation, an urging to cling fast to Wisdom (verse 21-26) and some notable warnings to follow the path of wisdom. It concludes with five 'do not' proverbs which lead to outcome statements: two negative and one positive.

If there is a hinge in Proverbs 1-9 it is chapter 3 with its richness and range.
